Ingram
(Inverurie)

Sadly, but peacefully at home with his loving family by his side, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Dave (Davie to many) passed away with great courage and thrawness aged 74 years. Devoted Husband and best friend of Jennifer, adored and loving Dad to Jill and Richard and an especially close Father-in-Law to Bruce and Lucy. He was the proudest and so cherished Granda of Ross, Arran, Arthur and Macy. Dear Brother of Jim, Irene, Helen, and Brother-in-Law of Ann, Brian, Ian and Brian Lawson and like a loving Big Brother to Joyce. Much loved Uncle, good friend and neighbour to many. A Celebration of Dave’s life will be held in St Andrews Parish Church on Thursday March 28th at 11am, thereafter to Inverurie Old Cemetery to which all family and friends respectively invited. Family flowers only please, donations in Lieu, if so desired at church door in aid of Dave’s chosen charities. So sadly missed.

Jennifer, Jill, Richard and families wish to thank all relatives, friends and neighbours for the support given, so many cards, letters and lovely flowers, food and baking parcels, messages via social media and help given following the recent loss of Dave. Grateful thanks for Dr Middleton at Inverurie Health Centre and the nursing staff and in particular thanks to Karen McRobbie/Macmillan Nurse for her compassion and professionalism shown to Dave and us all. We are especially grateful to the care team of “girls”, who were so exceptional, their support, kindness and caring expertise will never be forgotten. Also, to the First Responders Arch Team, we were so grateful for help with Daves needs. Thanks to Rona and the team at Eric P Massie Funeral Directors for the personal care throughout. Our special thanks to Rev. Iain Telfer for his wonderful, comforting, and fitting service and visits. Also, to the extensive amount of folk who attended Daves service and raised £1,500 total which is to be divided between the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research. FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

Attending a funeral FAQs

View all FAQs >

What should I wear?

We normally associate wearing black with going to a funeral. But it is increasingly typical for families to express a preferred dress code. Our advice is to look out for information from the family in a notice published either in newspapers, online or in the funeral director window to advise you of their preference.

How long does a service last?

Typically a service in most churches or crematoria lasts around 20-30 minutes. A formal mass may take a little longer and we would expect this to be nearer an hour. Finally, burials can vary in length as they are weather dependent.

Where should I sit?

Family and close friends typically reserve the first couple of rows in a service. We recommend sitting nearer the front than the back of a service space in order to support the family and enabling late arrivals to discreetly fill back rows.

Where should I send flowers?

Often a family will express a preference for flowers - or charity donations in lieu of flowers. We recommend you keep an eye on notices posted in newspapers, or online or in the funeral director window so you are able to follow their wishes.
